Description: A pair of sterling silver napkin rings with an attractive floral design, made by leading American silversmiths Gorham, and imported into London in 1902, The design features a well modelled flower, surrounded by Art Nouveau style foliage and scrolls. Both rings are clearlly hallmarked "Sterling Silver B1558", which is a pattern number. Both rings are also hallmarked with makers mark G.M.Co, .925, triangle import mark for Birmingham, and date letter g for 1902. These napkin rings have never been engraved. Gorham Corporation, which still exists today, was founded in 1831, they dominated the solid silver flatware market in the USA for 125 years (Gorham Silver, page 50).
