Description: A beautiful Norwegian antique silver 830 grade pastry server made by Norway's leading 20th century silversmith David Andersen. The server is trowel shaped, and has a detailed cetic design handle topped with a viking head, with a less intricate design on the back. The bowl is engraved with a heart shaped pattern, once again different on the back and the front. The quality is very pleasing, we think this is a cast silver handle. The server is clearly hallmarked 830S and the David Andersen hammer makers mark, this mark was used 1888 - 1925, so we know this is an early antique silver Andersen item. Andersen founded his business in 1876, and soon earned a reputation for quality, winning a gold medal in 1900 at the Exposition Universelle in Paris. He died in 1901, but the business continued from strength to strength, and is now run by the 4th generation of the David Andersen family.
